the government
Many entities control gas prices. When the U.S. government places tax on gas that is a price control. When the U.S. government keeps oil companies from drilling and building refineries, or making the cost exorbitant, that affects gas prices. When the Middle East countries cut back the amount of oil they drill for, that causes gas prices to rise. The evrironmentalists, putting heavy regulations on gasoline raises gas prices. These are just a few that affect the price of gas.

Since there is a constant need for oil the people who sell the oil may raise the price on Oil to make profit in result it rases gas prices.
No. Gas prices go up and down with how much the barrels of gas from the oil companies cost.
The MOPS oil prices can be found on the Platts website. It has current prices for oil, natural gas, and coal. The prices change on a regular basis and are constantly updated.

It is hard to certain but it seems that gas price wil fall by a considerable amount by Christmas. The price of oil has dropped $50 a barrel in the last month. I would expect gas prices to drop by 75c to a dollar a gallon by Christmas.
Because oil is such a valuable nonrenewable resource, for it to spill would cause gas prices to rise. When it spills, we are losing a lot of oil we could sell so we are losing money.

A driving factor in the rise is the Gulf oil crisis. Prices are expected to rise at least 7% over the summer.
Because the people in the war wouldn't give us oil.
Oil and natural gas companies.
Natural gas used to be much cheaper, but with rising oil prices its about on par with electric now. The price for gas will most likely continue to rise though. So, electricity is cheaper.
It depends on the current market prices, but generally, gas is cheaper than oil.
