Charging for what? They do charge for some stuff, but that's only if you want to. For instance, they charge money everytime you send a private message via Facebook on the Facebook application. But if you don't want it, you can delete the entire application.

£3.00 and $1.75 but if you've had your account for more than a year you get facebook free. and they're going to charge January 2012. I believe that there's a site made that's an exact clone of Facebook but free :-) check it out.

Facebook does not charge. You do not have to pay to sign up for it, and you don't have to pay for Facebook Mobile, etc. However, sometimes, when you are playing a game (Such as Farmville) you can buy more Farmville Cash, or credits to help you along the way. But that is an optional charge. Facebook is free.

As far as I know, Facebook won't charge you anything, but your cell provider might, depending on your plan.

No! Not one single cent! Not at all!

Thankfully, it is free. As it says on the front page: "It's Free. And Always will be." There is no charge to have a facebook account! None at all!

No, they aren't - despite the rumors, Facebook has no intentions of charging users. Also, don't join any of the groups protesting against charging for Facebook; it appears that some of them contain malware that could hijack your computer. Follow the related link for a recent article in which Facebook states explicitly they are NOT going to charge.
