Well, there are a series of antagonists. I mean, in the first book, James was an antagonist. In the second book, the Volturi are the antagonists, and in the third book, Victoria was the antagonist. We have yet to find out who the antagonist of the fourth book, Breaking Dawn, is.

The main antagonist in the Inheritance Cycle books is Galbatorix. The minor antagonists are the Shade, Durza, The Twins and the Urgals. Durza will be killed somewhere between the ending and the middle. The Twins will be killed by Arya the elf courier. The Urgals will form a pact with the Varden in book 3.
