A patron saint is a special friend in Heaven. When the Church places a particular class of individuals on Earth under that saint's protection and recommends them to that saint's prayers, that saint becomes the patron saint of those people. Geographical features in general are not usually assigned a patron saint; instead the class of persons who may travel through or live in territory with the geographical feature may be assigned a heavenly patron. There is a patron saint of mountain climbers and mountain dwellers, that is people who climb mountains, or who make their homes among them. And some mountains may have been assigned a heavenly patron (especially volcanoes! Especially volcanoes on whose slopes villages and farms have been built!) But mountains in general have not placed under the special protection of any saint.
