This is probably a cognomen for Tzu Hsi, the last dowager Empress of China who died in l908- and there was little fanfare about her last year, as a century passed. T"zu Hsi (sound lilke T"zoo-She? who is she?) was the last true Chinese Empress and instigated the Boxer Rebellion of l90l. ( aimed against foreign trade!) She is highly regarded by Chinese-Americans and there are many nice formal portraits of her -some on silk, of course silk is a Chinese product. in Chinatown- or let us use the native term- Kandor! In some quarters, Tzu Hsi has Boddisattva ( reincarnated soul-almost akin to a western Saint) status in Buddhist lore- and as ancestor worship is common, this is understandable, she is or was at least as historically popular as , say Victoria among the British, for example though more of a spiritual nature, ah so.

Xi Ling Shi is credited with discovering silk as she was the empress who raised silkworms and discovered how to weave silk from their cocoons. Legend has it that she discovered silk when a silkworm cocoon fell into her hot tea and unraveled, revealing the fine thread inside.
Correct me if I'm wrong but i think she was the one who began cultivating silkworms
Silk was found first when Empress Tong ling was having a nice tea in her back garden. Suddenly a cocoon fell on top of her and landed beside her feet. So she asked a servant to take the cocoon to the tailor to turn it into a dress for her.
