The Battle of Bunker Hill was actually held on Breed's Hill, next to Bunker Hill, on June 17, 1775. The Officer in charge of the troops at Breed's Hill was Israel Putnam, he spoke the famous words; "don't shoot until you see the whites of their eye's". This was due to the fact that the American's did not have much ammunition and where trying to conserve it.

Though the American's lost the hill, they only lost 441 men compared to the over 1,054 men lost by the 'redcoats' as well as over 1/6th of all the British officers lost in the entire Revolution.
