Spain lost all of its colonies in South America during the early 19th century as a result of a series of independence movements. Between 1810 and 1825, various territories, including Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Argentina, successfully fought for independence, largely influenced by figures like Simón Bolívar and José de San Martín. By 1826, Spain had effectively ceased to hold any significant territorial claims in South America.
