No. If he dies and defaults on the loan the bank's recourse is to take possession of the property by foreclosure. The bank has no claim against you.

The house is attached to the real estate. Real property, as opposed to personal property, is land and anything attached to it. The wife owns the land therefore she also owns the house.
The spouse is required to sign the deed, or the title could be challenged later on.
