Okay... So I don't know the year just yet but I am getting warmer... I just found this clip of the "Ã Love NY" ad campaign from the early 80's for promoting Broadway musicals and P. Swayze is featured. He slides into frame hops on the hood of the car and then runs a comb through his hair. It comes a few bits in after the cast of "The Wiz" is shown.
Anyway... I remember these ads from when I was growing up in NY. This ad has to predate 1984... I would say he was cast in GREASE sometime during 1980 to '83'.
