In the show's pilot and first season, it was Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, known for her role on the soap Opera "The Bold and the Beautiful," who played Sara Lance. But Sara was presumed dead when the cruise ship she was on sank.

When she actually returned in season two of "Arrow" on The CW, Sara was played by Caity Lotz, previously seen on the MTV series "Death Valley" as Officer Kirsten Landry, and whose first role was in season four of "Mad Men" (portraying Stephanie, the niece of Anna Draper, the widow of Lt. Don Draper, who dies of cancer).

The other potentially confusing thing for fans is that Sara's alter ego on the show is the masked crime fighter Black Canary, while in the comic book, that was the alter ego of Laurel Lance, who is already on the show as Sara's big sister, and is portrayed by Katie Cassidy.
