In the event both Columbus was wrong (the earth was bigger then he thought) and common wisdom was wrong (180 degrees between Europe and Asia to the west was not all water, America was in the way). Columbus died believing he had opened up a direct route to Asia.
The first land/island Christopher Columbus saw was San Salvador. That is the answer to that question. GOOD LUCK!

what was christopher columbus seeking when he landed in the america
because he proved Vasco De balboa and Christopher Columbus wrong that they did not land in Asia they landed in what he named America
Because he dicovered that Columbus was wrong. Columbus thought he found India when it was the Americas. Vespucci proved that it was a new found land
