∙ 11y agoThe oldest book ever written, is the Rig Veda, one of the tenets of Hinduism. Parts of it were composed more than 3700 years ago, predating even the Bible, which is the second oldest book in history. Chinese manuscripts are available that go back 3000 years as well. All these were composed well before the times of the Buddha and well before Islam.

∙ 11y agoIf you mean "book" as several pages bound together, as opposed to something written on ordered sticks of bamboo, or a scroll, or whatever, then i am pretty sure that it would be something engraved in Etruscan found in Bulgaria that was dated as from 600 BCE.
On the other hand, the Vedas are well known to contain large amounts of writing at least as old as 1400 BCE, and the I Ching is at least as old as the Shang dynasty (1600-1050 BCE). Moreover, many people believe that the I Ching is much (like thousands of years) older than that, and that it is likely the first thing in the world that one could realistically call a 'book'.
