Massachusetts was put under the martial law in the 18th century.
1. Full Martial Law is characterized by the presence of full combat ready troops in the streets of our city and towns. 2. Martial Law Jurisdiction. This form of Martial Law is what governs our service personnel. They are under the jurisdiction of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Under the UCMJ your rights are a privilege granted by the UCMJ and not protected by an appeal to the provisions of the Constitution for the united States. 3. Martial Law Rule. This aspect of Martial Law puts the civilian population under the exclusive direction of the Congress. Does anyone question the reason Congress uses the word "war" when singling out a perceived social ill. There are so many other adjectives that can be used why use the word war. Does not a declared war place the population under Martial Law? Does the declaration of war not put the entire country in a combat zone? Think about it.

She is quoted as saying, in explanation: "It's something called a continuing resolution, but it's a bill that you put on the floor that has been passed already by Republicans and Democrats in the United States Senate....that we could vote on today. "We have martial law -- what that means -- and my colleagues know what it means -- is that you can put a bill on in just minutes."
Under State law- possibly. Under Federal law, you would be sentenced to 5 years in prison, no probation, no parole.
I'm thinking you refer to the use of military force to deal with Civil Unrest: Martial Law.
