  • Lao Tzu, the Chinese founder of Taoism, 4th Century BC
  • This is a Chinese Proverb. "If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime." It is better to teach someone how to do something than to do it for them. Giving someone a fish is good for the short term, but it is better to teach them how to do it so that in the long term they can take care of themselves. For example, a mother could cook for her children, but if she never teaches them to cook, they will always be dependent on her for meals. If she teaches them how to cook they will be able to take care of themselves in the long term.
  • The quotation gained popularity in in 1963 after being used in the Christian Science Monitor that year. An old native American proverb had basically the same wording. An old English proverb also appears to have had almost the same wording. Sometimes the phrase is credited to Kuan Tzu, a Chinese Taoist philosophical text from about 2,700 years ago.

Individual vs. Universe It means if you gives somebody help/aid it may only benefit them for a short time but if you teach somebody some skills it will benefit them for a lifetime. if you give something to someone they need someone to do it all the time but if you teach someone how to do something they dependable on themselves.

I could just give you the answer but someone once said, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for one day. Teach him to fish and you feed him for life." Take out your calculator, dust it off and try this with me. There are 5,280 feet in one mile. Put 5280 in the calculator. Hit the multiplication key, ( X ) and then put the number 43 in there. Next hit the equals key ( = ) and there is your answer. 227,040 feet in 43 miles.

To calculate grades, divide the smaller number by the larger number... 26 divided by 31... You'll end up with a decimal. Your percentage is the first two digits after the decimal point. I'm not telling you the answer because you need to help your self. "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day; give him a fishing pole and teach him how to use it, feed him for life."

This means that if you do somthing for somone then you have helped him complete one issue, but if it comes up again he will not know how to do it.But if you teach them how to do it then they can solve the issue for as long as they live EX A little kid needs his clothes cleaned. If his mother cleaned them, he would have clean clothes for a day, but if she taught him how to do the laundry then he could clean his clothes for the rest of his life and have clean clothes every day

Through perfect love and example. The main form of governing or influencing people that Jesus Christ used was to simply teach them correct and true principles so that they could then use those principles to govern themselves. Christ was not about getting power over people, he was concerned about lifting people up out of their proverbial slums so that they could live the rest of their lives benefiting from what he taught them. I guess the old Chinese proverb "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you feed him for a life time." Applies to the methods that Christ used to influence people.

The Arctic ocean is home to one of the most simplist of life forms. Algea. This you can find in fish tanks or pools when you find green slime this is a form of algae. Most animals feed on it as it is at the bottom of the food chain. once there is algae then you get fish that feed on it, then seals and whales that feed on the fish and then you have your big predators Polar bears.
