At the same time as collecting Cerberus, he asked Hades for Theseus who had been entrapped there, he was also described as battling Hades for the life of Queen Alcestis, who had agreed to die in place of her husband Admetos. Hades was wounded by Hercules during his seige of the town of Pylos.
Hercules, after killing his wife, Megara, and their children under the influence of a madness sent by Hera, is so upset that he wants to kill himself. However, he is saved by Theseus who clasps his bloodstained hands. This shows that Theseus is willing to have a part in Hercules' guilt. Theseus then tells Hercules to return to Athens with him.

Well, one time the hero Peirithoos sought to abduct Persephone and went into Hades to do so; as punishment the god trapped him on a stone chair and eternal torment. Theseus, who accompanied him on the expedition, was freed at the request of Herakles.
This is so because, at the time of Zeus' birth, Hades had been swolled whole by their father, Kronos. Zeus' mother had to be the one, if anyone was to do so.
He poisoned Cronus' drink causing him to throw them up - Poseidon and Hades.
