The Celts or Britons were the people who lived in Britain before the Normans, Anglo-Saxons or Romans invaded; and they are still there.
Throughout history, several groups have settled in Britain, notably the Celts, Romans, Saxons, Vikings, and Normans. Each group contributed to the cultural and demographic landscape of the region. The Romans settled from AD 43 to around 410, while the Saxons and Vikings arrived in waves from the 5th century onwards. The Normans, following their conquest in 1066, significantly influenced British society and governance.

The Normans had, however, been exercising power by marrying into the English royal family at various points and there were many Normans at the English court. Given that the Normans were descended from Vikings who settled in Northern France and most of the English nobility then were also partly descended from Vikings, culturally and racially they had much in common, but there was a language difference.

A Viking settlement- The Vikings settled in Dublin around the year 841AD. The 'Normans', at this point in time, were actually still Vikings - The Normans were Vikings who settled in Normandy in France, hence the name. They came to England and became the 'Anglo-Normans' and then came to Ireland in 1169AD, arriving at Baginbun in South-East Ireland.
In England, the chronological order of significant groups includes the Celts, who were the earliest known inhabitants, followed by the Romans who invaded in AD 43. After the Roman withdrawal in the early 5th century, the Anglo-Saxons arrived, establishing their kingdoms. Later, the Vikings launched raids and settled in parts of England, and finally, the Normans invaded in 1066, marking a significant shift in English history.
