When St. Paul spread the gospel, it was around early 40 AD. He spread the gospel around the mediterranean to places like Greece, etc. He knew he had to spread the gospel when he saw the light from heaven and heard Jesus's voice saying "saul, saul, why do you persecute me" 3 days after Jesus's death. He changed his name from saul to paul if you were wondering.

Apostle Paul.

Sorry, close but no cigar. In Acts 8, Phillip was preaching to the eunuch and converted him. In Acts 10, Peter is charged to go to the centurion. In fact, Peter is known from Acts 3 for his fiery preaching which led to conversions by the hundreds.

Paul, while important to theology, was not the first to spread the Good news to Gentiles. His ministry came later.

The answer you are most likely looking for is St. Paul of Tarsus, but there have been many Christian evangelists who preached to Non-Jews, even as early as the First Century C.E.

According to the Christian scriptures, he was a fisherman, until Jesus called him to follow. He then became an apostle/disciple of Jesus and started to spread the Gospel.
