What are the rules of the gladiator games?
The rules of the gladiatorial contests varied. There was a senior referee, the summa rudis, and an assistant who had staffs (rudes) which were used to caution or separate opponents. The Gladiator games of ancient Rome began their decline through the influence of Roman Emperor Constantine I. Constantine was the first Roman Emperor to freely allow Christianity.
