The NBC TV series from 1966 to 1968 starred Ron Ely as an erudite Tarzan who returned from the US to his jungle home. The French TV series (Tarzán) ran from 1991 to 1994 and starred Wolf Larson.
Tarzan never died in any of the official books written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, nor did he die in any TV shows or movies.Tarzan would most likely have died in fanfiction.
I see it on eBay from time to time. Not sure if it is legit?
It depends how you define the term. One should distinguish between the Tarzan novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs and the various movie ( many actors involved aside from Weissmuller) and television adaptations. There was an episode in the Television series Tarzan ( Ron Ely as the ape man here) That featured the Soul group The Supremes as missionary nuns! Surely this was step in the right direction. The very idea of a White man dominant ( as Tarzan surely was) in Darkest Africa might be offensive to some, but positive Black characters were interwoven into the fabrid as well.
