1924 Winter Games in Chamonix. Norway won 17 medals (4 gold, 7 silver, 6 bronze) at the 1924 Games, the first ever Winter Olympics. Speed skater Roald Larsen won the most medals of any Norwegian athlete with 5 (2 silver, 3 bronze).
The first event's winner that was decided in the 1896 Olympics, the first 'modern' Olympics, was in the triple jump. The winner was James Connelly of the United States who jumped 13.71 meters or 44 feet 11 3/4 inches.

Each man won a medal in all 5 speed skating events ... Thunberg won gold in 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, and all-around, silver in 10,000 meters, and bronze in 500 meters. Larsen won silver in 1,500 meters and all-around and bronze in 500 meters, 5,000 meters, and 10,000 meters.
