Francisco Pizarro was the Spanish conqueror of Peru. After two failed attempts to conquer the Incan Empire in 1524 and 1526, the conquistador moved south. In 1530, Pizarro moved inland and founded the first Spanish settlement in Peru, San Miguel de Piura.
