Another view is that planets are a natural feature of the universe. The planets of our solar system were created about 5 billion years ago by the accumulation of mass by gravity.

Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel.
Neptune was discovered in 1846 by Urbain Le Verrier, John Couch Adams and Johann Galle independently.

Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel, and Neptune was discovered in 1846 in a sort of team effort: the actual observation was made by Johann Galle near the spot predicted by Urbain Le Verrier.
