Bob Meusel Stole Home base twice in World Series Play. Hopes this helps:-) YRL to the page where the answer was found will follow. Left Field: Bob Meusel He was the tallest of the 1927 Yankees (6-3), but Bob Meusel was dwarfed by the more famous members of Murderers' Row. With names like Ruth and Gehrig on the roster, it's easy to see why the gangly left fielder rarely comes to mind when the subject of one of the greatest teams in the history of baseball comes up. Although the Californian known as "Long Bob" posted modest numbers during his six World Series appearances - a .225 average with nearly as many whiffs (24) as he had hits (29), Meusel laid waste to pitching during the regular season, hitting a career .309 during 11 big league seasons (all with the Yankees except the last in 1930 with Cincinnati). And Meusel was known for having a bit of pepper in his personality, as well. He went on a barnstorming tour in 1921 with Babe Ruth - against commissioner Kenesaw Landis' wishes - which landed both a 39-day suspension. During the 1924 season Meusel charged Detroit's Bert Cole and incited one of the worst brawls in major league history - fans, police and players tangled for 30 minutes. Meusel and Ruth were fined $100 and $50, respectively. During the historic '27 season, Meusel swiped second, third and home - all in one game. Twice in World Series play, Meusel stole home successfully. He was often labeled as "grim" and unpopular by the press, in stark contrast to Irish, his NL star brother, but he accomplished what Dave Winfield never did in pinstripes - win a World Series.
