Ada Lovelace (aka Ada Byron) was the first known computer programmer. Ada began to write programs for Charles Babbage's idea for a mechanical computer. The computer did not physically exist at this point, but the programs were built primarily to show what could be done by such a machine at the time called the Analytical Engine (See related links below).
Ada Lovelace was the daughter of Lord Byron, the famous English poet.
Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, was an English writer chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage's early mechanical general-purpose computer, the analytical engine. Her notes on the engine include what is recognised as the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine; as such she is sometimes portrayed in popular culture as the "World's First Computer Programmer".

The first computer language is machine code. The first recorded use of machine code was in 1725 when French textile worker Basile Bouchon used perforated paper tape to provide semi-automatic control over the setup of his drawlooms. This innovation eventually led to the development of the Jacquard Loom in 1804 which used punch cards threaded together in an endless loop to produce repeating patterns.
Of course, drawlooms are not computers as such (they do not perform computations), however the encoded instructions on the punch cards could be reduced to a sequence of binary values which is no different to how a modern computer processes information. The only difference is in what each binary value represents. In a drawloom, the values are analogous to the warp threads, such that the state of each binary digit in a value determines which warp threads will be raised and which will not.
The grandfather of computing, Charles Babbage, devised a similar approach to enter formulae and data into his general-purpose Analytical Machine. His machines were never completed in his lifetime, however Ada Lovelace is (posthumously) credited as being the first programmer having devised an algorithm for the Analytical Machine to calculate Bernoulli numbers in 1843.
Her name is Ada, the first computer programmer. Her name is also used to name nowaday programming languague : Ada. You can use wikipedia for more information about her.
Can't say exactly, probably a test program to verify proper operation of the computer.
Probably something like a calculation program as that's all the first computers could really do.

you have to be in love with a computer and then marry it. =]
You are probably referring to Ada Lovelace who wrote an algorithm for Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine. She is credited with being the first computer programmer. However, she did not write any programming language; the machine's language was an integral part of the machine's design.
