Only the US uses the metric system. Hope it helped :D
All scientists use the metric unit of measurements because it is the most accurate.
The system of 'universal measure' that would become the 'metric system' was first described by Bishop John Wilkins in London on Monday 1668 April 13. Wilkins system for 'universal measure' included almost all of the features of the modern 'metric system', specifically: * A universal standard of length * A simple relationship between length, volume, and mass * Multiplication and division of the standard units by 10s, 100s, and 1000s to give further smaller or larger units to be able to measure all things in the Universe. Later, Wilkins 'universal measure' was improved by others and it first became a legal system of measurement, in France, in the 1790s with influences from Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington from the USA. THE METRIC SYSTEM WONDERLAND or THE WONDERS OF THE METRIC SYSTEM
If a person is 5 feet 2 inches tall they are 160 centimeters tall on the metric system. If they are 185 pounds they are 83.9 kilograms on the metric system.

Most of the world uses the metric system for measurement. The main units used outside of the U.S.A. is the metric system or SI (System Internationale).
The metric system was created to standardize measurements. In the past, measurements were based on abstract things like the size of an arm or the width of a horse. When these became subunits for each other, it got complicated. So the metric system bases everything on divisions of 100. It helped scientific research because (hopefully) everyone, everywhere uses it and different countries don't have to convert everything.
