Kong Fuzi was a Chinese philosopher living in China around 551 B.C.E. He was born into a low-ranking noble family, and was originally an accountant. He is most well known for creating the beliefs of Confucianism, like filial piety, and the Five Key Relationships. He stressed respect for one's parents and elders.

Laozi was also a Chinese philosopher living in China around the sixth century B.C.E. Little is known about Laozi personally, other than he became a legendary figure in China. Laozi is best known for creating the philosophy of Daoism. The main beliefs of the system included the "Dao" or the way, and to live a balanced life as part of nature. The Dao was specifically known as a universal force connected to nature that creates balance and order in the world.
