Many people only believe there are two archangels: Michael and Gabriel. Some may even know of the third archangel named Raphael. The rest are Uriel, Raguel, Ramiel, Chamuel, Iophiel, Cassiel, Sandalphon, (I do not know whether Azael or Zerachiel is the eleventh archangel or not: that requires more research). The last archangel is Metatron, however, Metatron is unique because he goes by a variety of different names such as Lucifer, the Beast, the Morning Star, or the most recognizable name Satan. OK, I've done some research and have found who the real 12 archangels are, also I've found there associations with God. The 12 archangels are Michael (he who resembles God), Gabriel (God is my strength; God's able-bodied one), Raphael (God heals), Uriel (flame of God), Raguel (friend of God), Chamuel (he who sees [seeks] God), Iophiel (beauty of God), Cassiel (speed of God), Metatron or Lucifer (little Yahweh), Sandalphon (brother [of God]), Azrael (God's help) and Ramiel (God's mercy). It is also important to know that Raphael is also called the Prince of Angels, because he is supposedly head the archangel rank.

(I didn't want to edit or modify the previous answer especially considering that this is my first ever answer so I'll put my answer below)

The study of angels show similarities of what took place on Earth as it was in Heaven with respect of Christ's 12 disciples, where one betrays and later his position gets replaced when they became apostles (as if for some odd reason it seemed necessary to keep the numbers in 12). It is more or less the same with Archangels when there were 12 and one betrays and gets replaced soon after he is fallen.

There are several names for the Archangels and many tend to misinterpret them as different archangels which isn't the case. It has to be noted that unlike other beings Angels are named based on their what they do or what they are. In other words, the same angel can have more than one name whenever he changes his roles. Popular belief is that the Fallen Angel had well over 5 names in total, starting with the well-known one - Lucifer (which actually isn't a bad name or one that you should consider evil at all(). The name Lucifer literally means, bearer of lights and was a name given to the archangel when he held the said role in Heaven, his name was later changed several time and 2 among them were Satan and Devil meaning betrayer and slanderer because of his actions (it is the name given to this fallen angel and many tend to consider all demons/fallen as Devil/Satan which is an obvious misunderstanding). Besides Satan there were other fallen angels as well and there has been a lot of confusion that it was either a few angels with different names or several angels for each respective name. At this point it is quite difficult to identify who exactly were the fallen and how many were there since one can have many names and many can have one name (Legion).

By far this is the closest I've gotten with Archangels and their different names.

Names of the 12 Archangels:

Michael - "Who is like unto God?" Daniel.10:13; 12:1; Jude v. 9; Revelation. 12:7-8.

Gabriel - "The Powerful or Strong Man of God," "The Power or Strength of God" Daniel.8:16;9:21; Luke1:19-26. Also called Djibril or Jibril.

Raphael - "The Healing of God" Tobit3:17;12:15. Also called Israfel.

Uriel - "The Light or Fire of God" A.V. II Esdras 4:1. Also called Sariel, Suriel, or Muriel.

Selaphiel - "The Command, Communicant or Prayer of God", since command and prayer represent the two forms, or types, of communication: the first one being descendant and the second ascendant. Also called Salathiel, Selathiel, Seraphiel, Sarakiel, Saraqael, Zarachiel, Zerachiel, or Zachariel.

Jedudiel - "The Glory, Laudation or Praise of God." Also called Jegudiel or Gudiel.

Barachiel - "The Benediction or Blessings of God." Also called Varachiel.

Raguel - "The Friend of God." Also called Raziel, which means "The Secrets of God." Not to be confused with Raphael.

Jeremiel - "The Compassion, Exaltation or Mercy of God" R.V. II Esdras4:36. Also called Jeramiel, Jerahmiel, Jerehmiel, Ramiel, or Remiel.

Anael - "The Grace or Joy of God." Also called Aniel, Hanael, or Haniel.

Jophiel - "The Beauty of God." Also called Orifiel, Jouphiel, Zouphiel, Zophiel, Zophkiel, Zaphiel, Zaphkiel, Kaphziel, Cassiel, or Kepharel.

Zadkiel - "The Justice, Righteousness or Uprightness of God." Also called Sachiel, Tzadkiel, Zadakiel, Zedekiel, or Zedekul.

A former Archangel among the 12 (aka the Fallen Angel) :

Lucifer - "The Light-Bearer" or "The Morning-Star" Isaiah 14:12; "The Enemy" Jude 1:9, Revelation 12:9. Other names for this fallen archangel (or his companions that were ) are: Satan, Devil, Azael, Azazel, Azrael, Izrael, Izreel, or Uzziel; Camael, Camiel, Camniel, Cancel, Chamuel, Kemuel, Samael, Shemuel, Simiel, or Zamael; Samiaza; Satanael.

Hope this helps.

I believe that you are refering to the book of revelation with the twelve angels. The book does not give any names to answer your question. The only angels mentioned by name in The Bible are Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.

Thinkest thou that I cannot pray to my Father and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels~Matthew 26:53

I've read that a legion of angels could equate to 36,000-72,000 angels.

Where in Bible does Jesus say he can command legions of angels?

The night He was arrested, when His disciples tried to protect Him with physical force, Jesus said, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?"(Matthew 26:52, 53 NKJV)While it is true Jesus made the statement in Matthew 26:53 that twelve legions of angels could be made available to Him, let's not overlook what He said before this ... "think that I cannot pray to My Father, and HE will provide". It seems that the command would have come from God the Father, not God the Son (Jesus).Psalm 8:4, 5 & Hebrews 2:6, 7, says that man is created a little lower than the angels. Hebrews 2:9 makes it clear that Jesus was sent to the earth and held a position lower than angels (He became man). Jesus as God incarnate would have to obey the laws that governed men. Though He was God in the flesh, He could not operate as God. So ... nowhere in the Bible does it say that Jesus can command legions of angels.

Is twelve angels significant in paranormal?

In the book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament, the bible speaks of 12 angels guarding the 12 gates of the Kingdom of God.Revelation 21:12 (new living translation)"The city wall was broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates."If you're finding something referring to "twelve angels" in a paranormal sense, then it may indeed have some sort of deeper meaning. Here is where I found my information, if you'd like to do a bit more research yourself:http://bible.cc/revelation/21-12.htm
