The warrior class was the nobility. They held the land, lived in fine manor houses, and collected rent from peasants. They also fought in battles.
They did not have absolute power over the serfs. Their relationship with the serfs was one of mutual obligation. The serfs had to provide them with work, food, or money. The nobility had to provide the serfs with a place to live, land to farm, and protection.
They also had a relationship of mutual obligation with their king, who had, in theory, provided them with their titles and land. They had to assist the king in time of need by providing soldiers and, if they were fit, fighting themselves.
If armed with a sword or a lance, they were knights.
If armed with a spear (not a lance) they were horse spearmen.
If armed with a bow, they were horse archers. These were mainly lightly armoured so they could move fast in order to conduct "hit and run" attacks.
If armed with an early gunpowder-based weapon like a hand cannon or an early musket, they were either Carabiniers (also spelt karabiniers) or Dragoons, depending on their culture of origin.

The German Waffen SS was famous for their loyalty and courage in battle during World War 2.
