Python programming language was created by Guido van Rossum, a Dutch programmer. He began working on Python in the late 1980s at the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in the Netherlands and released the first version of Python in 1991. Guido van Rossum continued to oversee the development of Python until 2018 when he announced his retirement from the position of "Benevolent Dictator For Life" (BDFL) of the Python community. Today, Python is maintained and developed by a large community of developers around the world.

Python was created by Guido van Rossum and first released in 1991. The initial version of Python, which was called Python 0.9.0, was released on February 20, 1991. Since then, Python has gone through several major revisions, with the latest stable version as of my knowledge cutoff being Python 3.10.0, which was released on October 4, 2021.
