Snow white is an ancient European folk tale, for hundreds of years past from mouth to mouth in very colorful words. It was published in the XIXth century in books of gathered fairy tale books with colorful illustrations. In 1912 there was a Broadway musical with colorful props and costumes. There were 2 silent black and white movies with real actors (1902, 1916) and one black and white Betty Boop animation version with music (1933)
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out in 1937. The major music was composed by Frank Churchhill and Larey Morey. The incidental music was composed by Paul Smith and Leigh Harline. Interestingly enough at the time Disney didn't have its own music publishing company, so the publishing rights for the music and songs were administered through the Bourne Co., and they still own those writes to this day. Another fun fact is that Snow White was the first American film to have a sound track released with the feature film.
