The singer of Rawhide was Frankie Laine (1913-2007) known also for many other hits including That Lucky Old Sun, Mule Train, Cool Water, I Believe, Granada and Moonlight Gambler, he sold well over 100 million records worldwide. Laine started out singing jazz and blues until the influence of Mitch Miller who fashioned his later singing style. He was also an actor as well as doing songs for many advertisements. Frankie Laine died February 6th 2007 at the age of 93 after suffering complications from an operation.
The crooner Frankie Laine wrote Rawhide. I had to look it up twice because I wasn't sure I believed it the first time I read it. Not exactly his style.

actually Dimitri Tiomkin whote the muisc for rawhide and the lyrics were written by Ned washington. Frainkie laine just sung it he did not infact write Rawhide.
Frankie Laine (1913-2007) sang the catchy theme song from the CBS television Western Rawhide. He also sang the theme songs to the Westerns 3:10 to Yuma, Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and Blazing Saddles.
