If you are outside and near buildings, you should move away from them as fast as possible, because they could come crashing down, and hit you. Lastly, if you hear a hissing noise or smell gas, quickly go away!
To scare away predators.

Hissing means that the cat is scared and it is trying to defend its self so stay away if a cat starts to hiss and arch his/her back.

Hissing means to stay away from the polar bear of her cubs while snorting means it thinks some other bear is stupid
A glazed belt can make that noise. Try rubbing a bar of soap on the belts and start it up. If the noise goes away temporarily, replace the belts.
Noise. Noise-eye(I)=nose. Get it!
yes
Its actually another way of telling the others (cats and animals assuming) to go away.
