Why Assembly language used on video games?

Usually for quite simple things, that take a single command in a higher-level language, it takes several lines of assembly language. Also, it is much less portable than higher-level languages, meaning that you program for one specific type of computer chip (CPU).

Assembly language is a low-level language. We only use low-level languages when we need to write specific code for a specific machine. However, low-level code must be written in excruciatingly minute detail at the machine level. it is labour-intensive and prone to error. High-level languages are generally machine-independent languages and allow us to express ideas and concepts more easily. The language compiler handles the machine specifics for us and can actually produce far more efficient machine code than we could ever produce by hand. Also, because the concepts can be expressed directly in code, the compiler can be enlisted to test our logic and assumptions, producing cleaner code that is much easier to both read and maintain. That is, we do not have to rely on user-defined comments (which a human reader may ignore) in order to maintain invariants; the invariants are built-in to the code itself, thus the compiler itself can ensure they always hold true (compilers do not understand user-defined comments and therefore cannot enforce any invariants contained therein).
