The only way to make current flow through a compass needle is to connect a wire

to each end of the needle. When you do that, the direction the needle points is

completely determined by the wires, and it's no longer free to rotate. So I'd say

that nothing at all interesting happens.

A magnetic field exists in the space surrounding a current-carrying conductor. (Ampere's law).

At the point in space where the compass sits, if the strength of the fields due to electrical conductors in the vicinity is a significant fraction of the strength of the earth's magnetic field, then the compass reading is guaranteed inaccurate.

A compass needle aligns itself with the lines of magnetic force at its location.

It cannot differentiate between an electromagnetic, nor the Earth's field. (Which is also an electromagnet in origin.)

There is no guarantee that your compass needle will return "to its original position" unless the secondary field is removed.

If the compass is resting on the table near the wire, so that the position of the

needle is completely determined by the current in the wire and is hardly affected

at all by the Earth's magnetic field, and you reverse the direction of the DC current

in the wire, then the compass needle snaps around 180° and points in exactly

the opposite direction.

Instead of being attracted by the magnetic field of the earth, it is being attracted by the magnetic field of the current carrying wire.

The answer is true.

Does the compass needle change direction if the flow of electricity in the wire near it is reversed?

true

Does the compass needle change irection if the flow of electricity in the wire near it is reversed?

yes indeed, in that case the current will be reversed thus, the magnetic field that coils on the wire will also be reversed(ex. from clockwise to counterclockwise and vice versa) you can understand this more by representing your right hand's thumb pointing as the direction of the current with the fingers closed, then the direction where the fingers are pointing will show how the magnetic field will coil through the wire. -K14

How does an inducted magnetic field influence the direction of a compass needle?

The conducting wire wrapped around the compass is energized creating a magnetic field that counteracts the effects of the Earth's magnetic field and changes the direction of the compass needle.

How can you determine the direction on a map without a compass rose?

You can determine the direction on a map without a compass rose by using cardinal direction.

How does a compass determine the directions?

The term "compass direction" means a direction shown by a magnetic compass, one whose needle will be drawn to a north-south alignment. When at a location and facing a certain direction, the "compass direction" is the one at the top (front) of the moving compass rose. If a location is in that direction, it is the indicated compass direction from the current point. On a map, the direction from one point to another is indicated by the up-down and left-right line between the points, and the compass directions are indicated by a compass rose on the map.

Does a compass use electricity?

no

How does the compass help people?

The compass helps people find direction or locate direction. The compass is especially used in navigation and during flights.

Does DC electricity affect a compass?

Yes. Electricity flows from the negative side of a battery to the positive side. If you wrap your hand around the wire with the thumb following the electricity, the magnetic field will be moving in the same direction as the way your fingers are curled.

Why do you need a compass?

We need compass to know the direction we are going.

What is the symbolism of a compass?

The symbolism of a compass implies location and direction.
