it is not so much the body that gets used to them as the bacteria that are the cause of the problem become immune to them. That is why we are all better of if we only use antibiotics when we really need them and try to rely on our own immune system whenever we can. This is also the reason that when you are prescribed antibiotics you should finish the whole course of tablets or capsules to make sure that all the bacteria are killed of and don't turn into a strain that has resistance to antibiotic's.

∙ 11y agoAntibiotics kill bacteria. If you over use them the clever bacteria learn to resist them. That is how hospital super bugs are hard to treat. The bacteria adapt then the antibiotics don't kill them

antibiotics should not be over used because antibiotics taken unnecessarily may kill the beneficial bacteria in the body.
