Most foods, as they occur in nature, are already a compounded materials. The carrot for example is a combination of carbohydrates, sugar, fiber, beta-carotene, etc. Each of those is a group of molecules that are in turn made of several different atoms. There is no logical reason to make a food that is simply a block of protein with no fat or carbohydrates since the human body cannot survive on any one material alone. That is why any doctor will tell you that a well rounded diet is important.

∙ 7y agoYou are under a misapprehension, NOT all foods and beverages are mixtures. To take just two examples, water is a beverage and that is not a mixture. Sugar is a food and that too is not a mixture.
