Chimps are in danger because of people. People are reducing their habitat as they convert forest into agricultural lands and homes, and they also kill the chimps as a food source, called "bush meat". As their populations decline, they are more likely to be inbred, and as their habitats are destroyed and people encroach, they are going to be exposed to more disease.
