They have been significantly succeded by smaller, more rigid forms of data storage media with greater protection and storage capacity.

Technology and Reliability to sum it up.
Floppy disks do not reliably sustain its data for a long period of time and by today's standards just as with zip disks the amount of data they can hold is a small amount.
Floppy discs were expensive and had very little sapce to store anything on them. You could not even put one music file, because it would be too big a file size. Then, they made the compact disc ( CD ) which holds up to 80 MB worth of memory ( about 20 songs ). They are cheaper. Now we have flash drives
Most new computers do not have floppy drives.
3 1\2 inch floppies only hold about 1.44 Megabytes of data, while flash drives hold several thousand times more than that. Also, flash drives have higher reading and writing speeds.
cd-rom..portable flash drives..memory cards..most new computers do not have floppy disk drives..mine does not
Because no standardized and backwards-compatible replacement became available for 1.44 MB disks, which is not enough to hold many files today.
who wants a floppy disk
They can hold more data than floppy disks and computers aren't really made with floppy disk entrances :)
data storage devices
Floppy drive was the first storage with portable data storage capacity.. However the data storing capacity of floppy drive is not enough but in early days it helped a lot..
Cd,DVD Floppy disk etc
Pen drive or disks...
Now a days every storage disk drive is portable.. You can have portable hard disk, cd/dvd drives and floppy drives.. All are having a USB interface..
Yes because it is just like a USB portable drive
The flash drive replaced floppy disks and cd-roms as storage devices. Flash drives are still in popular usage for file storage. Some even use flash drives as back up storage for their whole computer files in the event of a crash.
I would say that Thumb/Flash USB drives were what replaced the Floppy Drive, they have an advantage over the Floppy for being able to transport more data in a safer way.
The Flash Drive.
Floppy disk may be of any type is always portable, however the floppy disk "drives" are fixed.
The term 'portable disk' refers to portable memory for a computer that is in the shape of a disk, such as a CD, DVD, or floppy disk. (On a floppy disk the disk part is on the inside)
