Why are fossil fuel an attractive source of energy?

Fossils fuels are made by immense pressure on once living animals and plants that are buried in earth. It has happened to entire forests and these turn into coal in the fossilisation process. And sea life and plants form oil and natural gas.

Fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) are a powerful source of energy and powers much of the planet, however they take millions of years to reproduce and we are using them much, much faster than they can form. They also produce Carbon Dioxide which in turn produces Greenhouse gases and air polution, which contributes to Global warming and climate change.

A better alternative is renewable energy which is generated from natural sources like sunlight(solar energy), wind(wind turbines) Water (hydroelectricty) Earth (geothermal energy or heat from inside the earth), they quickly replenish thenselves and usually are available in never ending supply.

There is also an energy source called Biomass which is created from landfills where we bury our wastes. As it rots it produces a gas thet can be captured and used to produce electricty. Biomass can also produce waste that can be used as a fuel.

The problem here is if too much carbon dioxide is produced in the process it becomes a negative source of energy.
