Why are grades important?

It is not as important to get perfect grades as it is to do your best and learn as much as you can. Most colleges do want the "straight A" students, but if you have B's and a good attitude, you will be able to get into a good school.

Concentrate more on learning how to learn so that you can succeed no matter what you do!

Grades when you are in high school are important if you want to get into college. Many colleges are extremely selective, and will only allow you to take classes if you have a certain grade-point average in high school, so if you want to attend a really prestigious school, you'll need good grades.

If you don't score high enough, you will not pass to the next level of school, so grades are important in that you don't want to get held back and have to study with much younger kids.

Other than those reasons, though, grades are just a way to measure your progress and make sure you are learning the things you will need to succeed in your life once you graduate.

If you have better grades than another person, you will get into nursing school, whereas someone without good grades, won't. That's including high school. Many companies ask to see your transcripts as well, and will hire based on grades and GPA. Scholarships are always nice too.
