The Eastern Grey Kangaroo inhabits both grassy plains and open woodlands of Eastern Australia. The Western Grey Kangaroo is less likely to be found in grasslands, but prefers shrubby bushland such as mallee scrub, open forest and coastal heathlands. Western greys have frequently been observed swimming to offshore islands.
Depending on the species of kangaroo, they are found over most of the continent, from the semi-arid outback, to the tropical rainforests (for tree kangaroos), to the coastal heathlands, to the sub-alpine high country. Koalas are restricted to the eastern states, excluding Tasmania. They have been reintroduced into the southeastern parts of South Australia. Colonies have also been introduced in far southwestern Western Australia, where they are thriving, but koalas are not native to that region.
The Common Heath, e floral emblem of Victoria, is found in montane regions and sub-alpine areas of Victoria's High Country, as well as in coastal heathlands and nearby foothills. Its range extends from the Clyde River in New South Wales, through Victoria (including the Grampians and the Little Desert) to the Mt Lofty Ranges in South Australia. Common Heath is also found throughout Australia's island state of Tasmania.
Yes. The tiger quolls, also known as the spotted tailed quoll, is an Australian marsupial. The largest of the quolls in Australia, it is mostly found in Tasmania, and some locations along the eastern seaboard of the mainland, through Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales. Spotted tailed quolls, or Tiger quolls live in most types of forest, from bushland to rainforest, as long as there is plenty of ground cover. They also live in thick coastal heathlands along the eastern coast of Australia.
