Herbivores, such as pigs, cows, lamb, chicken, and deer, tend to have a better eating quality, mainly because of their diets. Carnivores, omnivores, and insectivores tend to have a poor eating quality because the natural flavor of their meat is mixed with flavors of DEAD (dead as in rotting away and gross) animals. In some cases, predators are dangerous to consume.

This is probably because herbivores are cheaper. A farmer can grow a crop then have an herbivore feast upon the crop until they are prime for slaughter or the market or reproduction. They have a simpler diet. A carnivore needs meat. This means a farmer would have to purchase a large amount of meat or live animals for the carnivores to eat. Or the farmer would have to grow the crop, buy the herbivores and have them grow, then give them to your carnivorous animals. Its very costly inefficent to do this. Also, if you think about it, people it more herbivores than carnivores.

What animals classed as omnivores eat?

There are only 3 orders of animals - Herbivores, Carnivores and Omnivores. Herbivores eat only plants in their diet - carnivores eat only meat and omnivores eat both meat and plants as part of its normal diet. Herbivores are only plant eaters - animals that eat plants as the main staple of their diet. Panda bears are herbivores as they only eat specific bamboo plants (and they eat a lot of them - because they are not nutritious at all)!!! Humans are omnivores - when eating a hamburger that contains beef and flour!! Bears are omnivores - they eat fish and berries. Carnivores are only meat eaters - animals that eat meat are the main staple of their diet. Wolves are carnivores.
