There's no risk of complete extinction, but they may well become extinct in the wild.
Several contributing reasons:
1) logging operations and population increase are reducing the area of chimps natural habitats
2) for some reason "bush meat" (i.e. apes and monkeys slaughtered for food) have become much more popular.
3) logging companies have built roads, making bigger parts of the jungle more accessible than before. Easier access goes hand in hand with the increased demand for bush meat, causing more animals to be hunted and killed.
4) chimp babies are still a sellable commodity as pets and tourist attractions, and they can usually only be gotten by killing off the mother, and frequently the bigger part of the troupe.
Pygmy marmosets are the smallest monkeys in the world. They are becoming extinct due to habitat destruction caused by human overpopulation and agriculture.
Actually, most marmosets are not endangered. Most are labled "Least Concern". But to answer your question, it is destruction of habitat. People need to save marmosets and other wildlife!
The pygmy marmoset is not on the endangered species list, however, their numbers are limited and their natural habitats are encroached upon by growing civilization in their indigenous areas.
They are not exinct, but are endangered because of habitat loss.
people are taking its habitat
yes. They are called pygmy elephants.
So far, no elephants are extinct. There are some endangered species though.
no elephants are not extinct they are becoming extinct though. About 100 years ago there were about 10 million elephants that walked the earth and now there are only about 500,000 left. They are becoming extinct because we are killing them for their thick beautiful ivory.
Yes, they are going to be extinct because they are threated
Elephants are not extinct, although they are highly endangered. You may be thinking of some of their relatives, like the wooly mammoth which have died out.

borneo pygmy elephants do not have claws but dohave teeth, they would have no need for claws but do require big molars for crushing leaves.
Extinct means they don't exist anymore. Some elephants may be endangered, but not yet extinct. Elephants are being Endangered by hunting for their skin or body parts.
Pygmy elephants are much, much larger than elephant shrews.
Elephants are less hairy than mammoths and do not posses such large tusks. Elephants are not extinct, while mammoths are.
The Asian Elephant Has Much Smaller Eyes :D
