Because they love you so much, that if they could have prevented something and didn't and you got hurt or even died, they wouldn't be able to live with themeselves. For example, If you wanted to go to a friends house that lived far away, and she says yes, and you end up doing drugs and OD'ing or get in a car accident cause you and your friends were messing around, it was her choice to let you go. They want you to be safe and and happy, even if that means making you pissed off sometimes :P im only 18, but i can pretty much figure that...

What if the child of 12 is being left alone with brothers and sisters under the age of 7?

The situation should be reported to the child protective services. The parent may need help and they need to be informed about child endangerment. What help is available to minor children in care of abusive parent in al?

Not much, sadly. Child Protective Services (CPS) May Not be the Best or Worst call. If the authorities are notified of child abuse, Child Protective Services can do an investigation. If evidence is produced, the children will be removed from home and sent into the "system" then the children will soon be with a foster parent/s. The children will not necessarily stay together (foster parent/s maybe other family members of the children or complete strangers) depending on if any other family members have gone to court to fight for the children. However, CPS doesn't necessarily care about the well being of the children, they just have a job to do. So, Either way, this may or may NOT be a safer way out for the children.Love, Faith, Prayer and you!

To be honest, I think Gerber markets more to parents by advertising on children's programming that parent's may be watching with their children. Gerber markets products that are for children at an age where a parent is more likely to be present during the advertisement being they are toddlers requiring supervision.
