Not completely correct, as there are a few ports above the polar circle that will freeze during winter. Most ports are too far south (closer to equator) to get cold temperatures in winter to make such a huge body of water as a sea (or inlet) freeze over.

Why does Iceland have volcanoes?

A geologically young land, Iceland is located on both the Iceland hotspot and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which runs right through it. This combined location means that geologically the island is extremely active, having many volcanoes. Iceland is one of two places on Earth where a mid-ocean ridge rises above sea level, making it an easily accessible site to study the geology of such a ridge. The volcanic eruption of 'Laki' in 1783-1784 caused a famine that killed nearly a quarter of the island's population; the eruption caused dust clouds and haze to appear over most of Europe and parts of Asia and Africa for several months afterward. The island has about 130 volcanic mountains, of which 18 have erupted since the settlement of Iceland. Over the past 500 years, Iceland's volcanoes have erupted a third of the total global lava output. Although the Laki eruption in 1783 had the largest eruption of lava in the last 500 years, the Eldgjá eruption of 934 AD and other Holocene eruptions were even larger. The ridge also causes alot of Geysers.

What will the legal status of the baby born in Norway if parents are not Norway Nationals?

The legal status of children born in Norway to non-Norwegian Nationals is that they automatically get a Norwegian Nationality in addition to their parents'. It is why it gets complicated with asylum seekers who have had a child in Norway and then get rejected from the system. With a dual nationality, the child will remain a Norwegian citizen and it will stay like that until the child is 18 and leaves the country. After that, they have to keep having their passport updated or they can lose their Norwegian Nationality. This goes for any foreign one as well, for instance a Dutch/Norwegian person living in Norway must keep a valid passport or lose their Dutch nationality.

Thai passport residing with British husband in UK You have leave to remain in your passport You have a French schengen visa and want to travel to other schengen states directly Is this possible?

Traveling in Europe has been simplified with the introduction of the Schengen visa. As a visitor to the Schengen area, you will enjoy the many advantages of this unified visa system. With a Schengen visa, you may enter one country and travel freely throughout the Schengen zone. Internal border controls have disappeared; there are no or few stops and checks. This means that internal air, road and train travel are handled as domestic trips, similar to travel from one US state to another. Those who traveled in Europe before Schengen know the difference. The 15 Schengen countries are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. All these countries except Norway and Iceland are European Union members.

Will driving license do to go to UK from Ireland?

You can use your full UK or any other valid EU licence to drive in Ireland. If you wish to remain in the country then you will need to exchange your licence for an Irish one. Note that this only applies to "FULL" licences, if you have a "provisional" or "learners" licence you will need to do the Driver Theory Test and get a Learner's Permit which is valid for two years but you can only drive if accompanied by the holder of a full licence. As well as EU licences the following full licences can be exchanged for a full Irish licence, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Australia, South Africa, Japan.
