In a food chain e.g, the energy comes from the sun which reaches the grass (producer), which is eaten by the rabbit (herbivore/prey) which eats some of the energy. The fox (predator/carnivore) eats the rabbit which the fox eats the remaining energy from the rabbit, as you can see there has been energy consumed and there is not enough energy to be consumedd further.

only 10% of the energy obtained by an organism is transferred to the next level so after 3 or 4 levels only very little energy remains so furthur level maynot get any energy at all

so basically there is no next level

A you go up the levels, there is less stored energy because it is used for movement, reproduction, etc., so if it had any more levels, the top level consumers would have to eat a LOT to get a little bit of energy

Because energy is lost from each trophic level, leaving only small amounts of energy and nutrients that are too small to divide again for the next level.

because nature has its own sets of rules and regulations and it has to work that way

How many trophic levels does a food chain include?

A food chain does not go all complex like a food web does, meaning it has anywhere from 3-... an example would be : grass -> rabbit -> fox

What are the five tropic levels to an ecological pyramid?

The five trophic levels in an ecological pyramid are: 1) producers (plants and other autotrophs), 2) primary consumers (herbivores that eat plants), 3) secondary consumers (carnivores that eat herbivores), 4) tertiary consumers (carnivores that eat other carnivores), and 5) decomposers (organisms that break down dead organic matter).

To check its stability and health

four

How many tropical levels are therein the following food chain sunflower beetle mouse?

It depends. A food chain could be fairly long with about four or five steps in it, or a food chain could have just two.

The number of tropic levels in an ecological pyramid?

ECOLOGICAL food chains are typically short, consisting of not more than four or five trophic levels. This is usually explained by a reduction in the energy which is available to successive links in the food chain1,2. In contrast, we believe that the number of trophic levels is constrained by population dynamics and not by ecological energetics.

If a food web has more than four or five trophic levels what might happen to the creatures at the highest levels?

Organisms implemented in food chains or webs have generally claimed their place there, and don't have a difficult time surviving - which means survival appears to be definite for awhile.

Why do most food chains not contain over 4 or 5 organisms in the food chain?

Food chains can be seen in a energy pyramid. There are rarely more than three or more links since each predators are more dominant than others. This also means that particular of animals are barely been eaten from other predators. In addition, through the energy pyramid, the reason why is because 10% of it's energy in each trophic level is used and 90% of it is lost which results of no more than four or five links ( Tertiary/ Quatinery consumers).

Reason that this food chain has only five levels is that?

Only about 10% of the energy in one level goes on to the next level (it is VERY inefficient). Because of this, after 5 levels (max), there isn't enough energy left to form another level.
