All magnets no matter how small have two opposing poles, a north pole and a south pole. The Earth also has a magnetic field and so it too has two poles, a North and a South Pole. The Earth also spins on its axis, the ends of this axis are also called Poles. There are two ends, a North and a South pole which are close to but not exactly in the same positions as the Earth's two magnetic poles.

Magnet have a quality that it produces magnetic field arround it,the magnetic field lines travels from one point to another point of the magnet,from where the magnetic lines start traveling we called it positive pole or P and where they end up there travel we called that it is negative pole or N.

it has poles because the magnet needs to have a negative and positive side so they can attract other objects
