Why can't I get sunburned after rhinoplasty?

Who says you can't? Just joking. Your skin after rhinoplasty is very sensitive and getting sunburned is an easy job... Because your skin is so sensitive, sunburns might leave scars and other unwanted stuff.

You cant be in the sun after a nose job primarily for two reasons. First, If you had an open rhinoplasty you will have incision scars under the nose. Getting sun exposure on this area will cause hyper-pigmentation and will cause the scars to darken. The second reason is, during the surgery the skin of the nose was damaged in order for your surgeon to get to the cartilage and bone underneath. Because of this, the nose takes a long time to reduce swelling, and to constrict the skin back onto the structure your surgeon created, (this is the process that creates a nice defined appearance to the nose after a nose job). Getting sun exposure will cause the nose to do the exact opposite, or, to expand and swell up. This process could delay your final result, and in the worst case, permanently alter it.
