You shouldn't need to check the 'Download Codec Automatically' option. If you are not able to see/hear the video in Windows Movie Maker or a media player, convert it to a file name extension (format) used by the program. For Windows Movie Maker and Windows Media Player, the following file name extensions can be imported/edited/played:
.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv
.aif, .aifc, .aiff, .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, .wma
