Mercury is the first planet in the solar system with the shortest year and the longest day.

the temperatures here are incredibly extreme and so it cannot support life. moreover, it has a very thin atmosphere which allows radiations, both harmful and useful, to pass through it. if any creature can adapt to conditions so unbearable, then probably it can survive on even mercury!:)

Was there life on Mercury?

There is no evidence of life on Mercury due to its extreme temperatures, lack of atmosphere, and harsh radiation from the sun. The conditions on Mercury are too hostile to support any known form of life.

Organic life on mercury?

Our understanding of life would suggest that life on Mercury is impossible. Mercury is an Iron Core Planet that has had all its exterior layers burned away. Its proximity to the sun, and it's composition, suggests to us, that no life we would easily identify as life, could exist on Mercury. This would include surface life, and sub-surface life. It is simply too hot, and the limited minerals available, to support life as we are capable of recognizing it. -Dejunai

Does mercury have life?

The Planet Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and much too hot to support life. However, some ice has been found in deep caverns and in the parts that never receive sunlight. In terms of the chemical element, some fish contain mercury, but they are not always safe to eat.

What weather will accompany a decrease in the height of the mercury column in a mercury barometer?

Why can't mercury support life?

Life as we know it requires the presence of liquid water, the temperatures and pressures found on the surface of Mercury mean that water cannot exist there. This makes it highly unlikely that life could develop on that planet. Additional is that Mercury is mostly made out of Gas. There is only a small circle of rock in the centre. I'm not exactly sure that life can live on such a small area and live in the different gases on Mercury.
